The inauguration ceremony was successfully held at Al-Fayhaa Block 9 oil field in Iraq on June 16, 2022. Mr. Najim, Deputy Director of PCLD of Ministry of Oil and Chairman of JMC of Block 9; Mr. Abdu Wahab, Advisor of Iraq Ministry of Electricity, Mr. Hassan Muhammad Hassan, Executive Vice President of Basra Oil Company; and representatives of United Energy Group from oilfield and clean energy sector and the China Energy Construction (CEEC) attended the ceremony.
All guests visited the solar power station and completed Ribbon-cutting inauguration ceremony. Mr. Hassan M Hassan, Executive Vice President of Basra Oil Company praised the successful operation of this solar power plant in Block 9, which proves to be a milestone in realizing transformation of energy mix for electricity generation in Iraq. It leads Iraq's diversification in energy development, praising the project as a good example of clean energy pioneer in Iraq. Mr. Abdu Wahah, Advisor of Iraq Ministry of Electricity, said the project is the largest off-grid solar power plant officially put into operation in Iraq, which is of great significance to solve the problem of fuel and electricity shortage in Iraq. Mr. Song Yu, Executive Director of UEG and President of Block 9 in Iraq, expressed his sincere gratitude to Ministry of Oil and Basra Oil Company for their support and said that this solar power project represents the true meaning of "United Energy" – i.e Energy production in an optimized and diversified way. Mr. Huyan Tao, General Manager of UEG clean energy sector, briefly introduced current and ongoing clean energy projects and development plans of United Energy Group in Iraq and Pakistan.
United Energy Group Iraq Block 9 - 2.5MWp+2.5MWh Off-grid Solar Power Project is a key milestone. UEG will continue to leverage its operational and management strengths to focus on developing more clean energy projects in Iraq, contribute in reduction of energy shortages of electricity, promote diversification in Iraq's energy industry and optimize energy structure to benefit local population.
