Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Oil meets UEG’s team in Beijing

His Excellency Dr Laith Abdulhussein Kadhim, Deputy Minister of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, visited the 23rd China International Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE) and UEG‘s Beijing Headquarters from May 31st to June 2nd 2023 at the invitation of UEG. Representatives from UEG, its partners in Iraq and the Block-9 Team warmly welcomed H.E. Dr Laith to Beijing.

Accompanied by UEG representatives, Dr Laith visited the CIPPE to explore the groundbreaking technologies and equipment available in the Chinese energy industry. The visit gave Dr Laith insight into the management capability and technical strength of UEG and some of its partner companies. Dr Laith praised Chinese companies' commitment to excellence and innovation.

Afterwards, Dr Laith visited UEG’s Beijing headquarters, where he appreciated the caring and inclusive work culture of UEG and the technical expertise of the UEG Team.

Meeting with Dr Laith


Song Yu, Executive President of UEG, and UEG’s Management Team, warmly welcomed Dr Laith to UEG’s office on behalf of the UEG Board of Directors. UEG’s Management Team shared an overview of UEG’s business, the production and operation of the Group’s assets in Iraq and UEG’s vision for the medium and long term with Dr Laith. UEG’s management thanked the Iraq Ministry of Oil for its continuous support. UEG’s Executive President reaffirmed that under the guidance of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil, UEG will maintain the smooth operation of its Iraq assets, develop new projects, increase training opportunities for local Iraqi staff and actively fulfill its corporate social responsibility commitment.

After the meeting, UEG representatives accompanied Dr Laith to China CAMC Engineering Co, Ltd’s (CAMCE) office. During the meeting, CAMCE shared the construction progress of the Oil & Gas Central Processing Facility (CPF) in Iraq's Block-9 Faihaa field.

The visit of Dr Laith enhanced mutual trust and knowledge-sharing between Iraq’s Ministry of Oil and UEG, laying a strong foundation for developing UEG’s business in Iraq. As a conscientious, responsible and experienced operator, UEG will continue to grow its business in Iraq to fully develop the potential of Iraq’s indigenous oil and gas resources and actively explore the development of new low-carbon energy projects such as natural gas recycling and solar power with the support of Iraq’s Ministry of Oil.
