UEG Iraq B9 Celebrates Oilfield Dual Projects Completion

At the end of the Year of 2023, the UEG Iraq Block 9 Oilfield 100KBOPD Field Surface Facility Project and Water Source Station Project were both put into operation on time, and the celebration ceremony came to a successful conclusion. At the same time, the leased power station in Block 9 has met the conditions for operation, which marks the complete readiness of the oil, electricity, and water required for the operation of the Central Crude Oil Processing Plant, and the successful completion of oilfield work in 2023. Looking ahead to the Year of 2024, the production of 100,000 barrels per day in Block 9 is just around the corner.

On December 21, 2023, the 100KBOPD Field Surface Facility Project in Block 9 oilfield was successfully launched and celebrated. At the celebration ceremony, several relevant leaders from United Energy Group, Basra Oil Company, PetroChina Daqing Oilfield Construction, and PetroChina Global Engineering attended. Among them, Mr. Farkad, Chairman of the District Joint Management Committee in Block 9, warmly congratulated the successful completion of the project and highly appreciated the achievement of zero accidents in safety production by the United Energy and contractor teams. The project is contracted by PetroChina Daqing Oilfield Construction Group Co., Ltd., including the construction of over 100 kilometers of crude oil gathering and transportation pipelines, trunk lines, oil well surface facilities, and upgrading of remote terminal control systems.

On December 30, 2023, the completion celebration of the water source station and water supply pipeline project in Block 9 was grandly held at the control room square of the Central Processing Plant in Block 9. Mr. Hassan, Deputy Director of Basra Petroleum Company, Mr. Mahdi, Deputy Director of the Contract Bureau of the Ministry of Petroleum, Mr. Najim, Deputy Director of the Contract Bureau of the Ministry of Petroleum, United Energy Group, China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, and China Petroleum Global Engineering attended the event. The project is under the general contracting of China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau, including the construction of water source station water intake and treatment facilities, 41 kilometers of water supply pipelines, and a daily processing capacity of 70,000 barrels after completion.

At the celebration of the completion of the water source station, Mr. Hassan, Deputy Director of Basra Oil Company, stated that, Block 9 oilfield is one of the most important oilfields of Basra Oil Company. United Energy has overcome various difficulties and increased daily production to 60,000 barrels. At the same time, it has completed multiple engineering projects such as a 16-inch light oil pipeline, solar power plant, and 100KBOPD Field Surface Facility Project. While increasing production, it has greatly reduced carbon emissions. Basra Oil Company will continue to support the rapid development of Block 9 oilfield.

At the same time, Mr. Najim, Deputy Director of the Contract Bureau of the Ministry of Petroleum, emphasized that "the water source station project is one of the important engineering projects for producing 100,000 barrels in Block 9. We appreciate the significant progress made by United Energy in developing Block 9 oilfields and the contribution made by the localization rate of employees".

In addition, Song Yu, the Executive President of UEG, emphasized in his speech the trust and support of partners such as Basra Oil Company, Dragon Oil Company, and Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, and stated that the smooth implementation of the project is a joint result of the tacit cooperation and hard work of all participating personnel.

Looking back on 2023, the world gradually came out of the haze of the COVID-19. The oilfield project team of UEG Block 9 worked together to overcome difficulties, constantly optimize process arrangement and construction organization, and adhere to high standards and fast progress. Faced with numerous difficulties such as hot weather, harsh construction conditions, and tight project schedule, the team in Block 9 firmly established a sense of urgency of "not being able to wait" and a fighting spirit of "going all out", continued to carry forward the spirit of hard work, closely monitored construction progress, and focused on engineering quality, ultimately ensuring high-quality completion of project construction.

Time waits for no one, move at the very beginning. The UEG Block 9 Oilfield is embarking on a new journey in the Year of the Dragon with full spirit! In 2024, the oilfield in Block 9 will surely soar and move forward with firm determination, solidly promoting the construction of oilfield production capacity, and paving the way for the long-term development of UEG in the Iraq region.
